Happy Hostellers:

A Dreamlike Getaway!

Gypsy Child is straight out of a postcard. Perched on Lake Pichola's Nav Ghat, the hostel welcomes you with soothing shades of ivory and turquoise. The nooks and crannies of the hostel are embellished with colourful illustrations by local artists – Anil and Hemant, that give you a small glimpse into the city's penchant for folk art. The walls are adorned with vintage portraits and posters, and the dorms are christened with names such as Noor and Aravalli. However, the best part of the hostel is our host Ruchika, who comes like a jolt of warm, fuzzy energy making our stay at Gypsy Child our favourite part of the Udaipur trip. Impromptu breakfast walks and endless conversations on the best leather and leheriya shops in town are also on the house. Making you feel right at home, this hostel needs to be your go-to accommodation option if you're visiting Udaipur!

We had a great time! With the lovely and extremely charm crew of Gypsy Child, we are sad to leave those place! The massala chai was the most delicious that we try ever, the clean and super comfortable room, the views and talks at sunset in front the lake, the street breakfast and many other things... Ruchika, Lalu & Narayan we will miss you ! Till next time ! Namaste

One of the most beautiful located hostels with the best spirit in India

Absolutely brilliant hostel! Really enjoyed staying here, was the perfect place to relax and enjoy Udaipur. The rooms were super clean and tidy and the location looking over the lake was amazing. Lots of activities on offer and the staff were superb. They have lots of good recommendations for places to go and eat and a brilliant film screen area for the evenings. I would defiantly stay here again and highly recommend it.

"Go For the view, Stay for the Service!"

“The amazing breakfast served every morning from the sublime rooftop terrace. Also, Ruchika (the owner) will go out of her way to make sure that you are comfortable and everything you need is organised. A 5 star hostel experience.”

Best hostel in Udaipur...

The hostel is very good and the sunset looks awesome from here. The hostel is just beside the city palace at Pipli ghat.
The hostel is very well managed. The rooms and beds are very clean and well maintained. There are multiple dorms available and a personal room is also there. There are also lockers to keep your belongings safe.

Palace view, Lake view, Sunset view, the best place in my view

There is no other place like Gypsy Child. Cozy, comfortable and cool. If you are a traveller who would like to see local culture you are in the right place. I had visited with a group of artists for a workshop. The team here is very professional yet warm and friendly. The terrace makes you feel at home. You can be a bookworm, play your Ukelele or paint the sunset. Everything is 2 minutes away. From street food to gourmet restaurants. The manager accompanied us to shopping after her duty. At the breakfast table which is 2ft by 5 ft you will make conversation with people round the world. I met this old man from Australia and in a few minutes I new everthing about him. Quite an interesting story though. After 4 days of wonderful Udaipur winter, had to reluctantly leave my warm friends at the Gypsy Child. See you guys soon.

Two weeks in Udaipur

Well, I have been to a few hostels on my previous backpacking trips. But I found Gypsy Child to be a lot more peaceful and relaxing. Something that you can't stop appreciating is the

hospitality and care given by the staff. I had come for a week, but went on to stay for a couple. How the staff cared when I fell sick is something really worth mentioning. (I have fallen sick in other hostels before and never have I been helped so much). I was also given vegan food according to my preference.

The rooms are really good and clean. You have an excellent view of the lake from the terrace or just the outside of the hostel.
Definitely worth staying at!
